Privacy Policy

How Gift Proof handles data

This policy explains what Gift Proof may collect, how the app uses that information, which service providers are involved, and how to request deletion.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the Gift Proof mobile application, the public Gift Proof website, and related support communications. By using Gift Proof, you agree to the data practices described here.

2. Information you provide

Depending on how you use Gift Proof, you may provide:

  • Account information such as email address and authentication details.
  • Profile and planning information such as contact names, relationships, interests, notes, and occasions.
  • Gift planning data such as titles, links, prices, store names, notes, status updates, and given dates.
  • Optional media such as photos you attach to gift ideas.
  • Wishlist submission content shared through Gift Proof wishlist links.
  • Support messages you send to giftproof@gmail.com.

3. Information collected automatically or from device features

Gift Proof may process or store the following when relevant to app features:

  • Local app data stored on your device to support offline use and faster access.
  • Notification preference settings and reminder scheduling data.
  • Authentication session data needed to keep you signed in.
  • Subscription and entitlement status for premium features.
  • Technical metadata needed to support wishlist syncing, account operations, and app security.
  • Website and app analytics such as page views, store badge clicks, onboarding progress, paywall results, and feature usage events.

4. Permissions

Gift Proof may request access to device capabilities only when you choose features that need them:

  • Camera access to capture photos for gift ideas.
  • Photo library access to attach existing images to gift ideas.
  • Notifications access to send reminder alerts about upcoming occasions.
  • Share sheet handling when you send links or images into Gift Proof from another app.

If you decline a permission, some related features may not work fully, but the rest of the app should remain available subject to account and subscription requirements.

5. How Gift Proof uses data

  • To create and maintain your account.
  • To store and organize people, occasions, gift ideas, and wishlist submissions.
  • To sync your data across supported devices when you sign in.
  • To send or schedule reminders you enable.
  • To manage subscriptions, restore purchases, and show premium access state.
  • To understand aggregate website, onboarding, paywall, and feature performance.
  • To operate account deletion, security, debugging, and support workflows.

6. Service providers and sharing

Gift Proof uses third-party services to operate core features. These may process data on our behalf:

  • Supabase for account, database, and backend function infrastructure.
  • RevenueCat for subscription management and purchase restoration.
  • Google Analytics and Firebase Analytics for website and app usage analytics.
  • Apple, Google, or email-based authentication providers when you choose those sign-in methods.

Analytics events are intended to measure product and funnel behavior, not the contents of your gift notes, wishlist replies, photos, or private contact details. RevenueCat may receive a Firebase app instance identifier so subscription events can be connected to app analytics. Gift Proof does not sell your personal information. Data may be disclosed if required by law, to protect rights or safety, or as part of a business transfer involving the app.

7. Data retention

Gift Proof keeps your data for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain your account, honor legitimate business and legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Data stored locally on your device may remain until you remove it, clear the app, or delete your account.

8. Account deletion and your choices

If you created a Gift Proof account, you can request deletion of that account and associated data from within the app by going to Settings > Delete account.

You can also use the public deletion instructions on the Delete Account page or email giftproof@gmail.com from the address associated with your account.

Some information may be retained where required for security, fraud prevention, charge handling, legal compliance, or similar legitimate reasons.

9. Security

Gift Proof uses reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect data, but no method of storage or transmission can be guaranteed completely secure.

10. Children

Gift Proof is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the app.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we may update the date below and provide notice where appropriate.
